Range Rover is preparing to enter an entirely new era.

The newly announced Range Rover GT will become the fifth member of the Range Rover family, bringing the brand’s signature combination of luxury, refinement and capability into an all-new electric grand touring format.

What Is the New Range Rover GT?

But the GT introduces a substantially different interpretation of the Range Rover formula.

Official prototype imagery shows a low, streamlined profile with pronounced coupé proportions, creating a vehicle that looks considerably more road-focused than existing Range Rover models while retaining the brand’s unmistakable design language.

Range Rover Managing Director Martin Limpert describes the upcoming GT as the brand’s “most car-like” Range Rover yet, while emphasizing that it is still being engineered to maintain the capability expected from a Range Rover.

Is the Range Rover GT Electric?

Yes. The Range Rover GT will initially launch as a battery-electric vehicle.

Importantly, it will also become the first all-electric Range Rover built on JLR’s new Electrified Modular Architecture, or EMA.

The EMA platform has been developed specifically around electrified vehicles and gives Range Rover a new foundation from which to combine electric performance with the refinement, interior space and capability expected of the brand.

Range Rover has also confirmed that the architecture provides flexibility for a full hybrid electric vehicle option later in the GT’s lifecycle.

The letters GT traditionally stand for Grand Tourer or Gran Turismo:

vehicles designed to travel long distances at speed while keeping passengers exceptionally comfortable.

Range Rover is applying that philosophy in a distinctly different way.

Rather than creating a traditional two-door sports coupe, the Range Rover GT combines grand touring proportions and road manners with four-door practicality, substantial rear-seat space and the all-terrain capability associated with Range Rover.

Range Rover’s official U.S. description calls it an “elegant electric GT with a sleek silhouette and coupe proportions” designed to offer customary Range Rover capability.

That combination could make the GT particularly distinctive: a vehicle designed for effortless interstate travel and luxury touring without abandoning the versatility for which Range Rover is known.

What Will the Range Rover GT Look Like?

Range Rover has not yet shown the production vehicle without camouflage.

However, the prototypes already reveal several important elements of its design.

The vehicle has a notably long, low profile compared with existing Range Rover SUVs, along with a sweeping roofline and proportions closer to a prestige sedan or fastback.

Range Rover’s own description specifically refers to a “sleek silhouette and coupé proportions.”

Even the prototype camouflage has a story behind it.

The flowing gold pattern covering development vehicles was created using topographic contours inspired by the landscape surrounding Gaydon, England, where Range Rover’s creative and engineering teams are based. According to Range Rover, the digital appearance of the camouflage also reflects the advanced technology being developed for the vehicle.

The company has described the GT as its most technologically sophisticated Range Rover yet, although many of those technologies have yet to be detailed publicly.

Where Will the Range Rover GT Be Built?

The Range Rover GT will be manufactured at JLR’s Halewood facility in the United Kingdom.

It will be produced using the new EMA architecture alongside internal-combustion and hybrid vehicles manufactured at the facility.

The GT therefore represents more than the introduction of another Range Rover model. It is also an important part of the brand’s continuing transition toward a broader portfolio of electrified luxury vehicles.

When Will the Range Rover GT Be Available?

Range Rover has not yet announced an exact U.S. on-sale date on its official Range Rover GT page.

The company says prototypes are undergoing final global testing and that additional details will be released later in 2026. The vehicle shown today remains a pre-production model and is not yet available for sale.
